Read. In the name of your Lord who created-
note: Orang yang faham Arabic, entry ni bukan untuk anda .. kot.
I miss them.
When i used to teach at the kindergarten while waiting for my offer letter into UM last year, i remember having this one genius student. He stayed in the UK for a few years and his family just moved back to Malaysia the year before. For a 6 year-old, his english was excellent.
*no. this is not the boy i'm talking about.
but feel free to watch how the reading process usually takes place, heh.
but feel free to watch how the reading process usually takes place, heh.
One day, I was guiding him reading a paragraph about 'Ayah bawa kami sekeluarga ke zoo' and i decided to make a conversation with him by asking, "Have you seen a 'monyet', like in this story?"
He looked up to me, and shyly shook his head.
"Tak pernah tengok monyet??" I was a little shocked.
"Monyet?" He asked.
"Yes dear. Monkey."
"Ooooh.. Monkey. Yes, I've seen monkeys."
That's when i discovered his problem. He has been reading all those paragraphs every day without understanding whatever he was reading! -_- Dia tidak faham bahasa malaysia, tapi pandai membaca dengan sangat lancar. Therefore, starting from that day, when it comes to his turn, instead of reading i began teaching him malay words and their meanings. Funny when he always seem to get confused between Kelapa and Kepala, haha.
If we were to look at this boy, what would we most probably say? "Pity him. He can fluently read an entire Berita Harian newspaper but understand nothing in the end. Such a waste." or something like that, right?

3
I changed the calendar on my desk to a new page this morning, and it hit me...
Time flies. What starts with M and rhymes with starch? is here. This can only mean one thing. I'm turning What starts with T and rhymes with bounty? in a few days, aaaaah. It's really not a big deal actually, it's not like this age-changing in a day thingy can magically make me grow an extra brain or anything. It will just be another day, and this will just be another month. Right. What i should realise is that i am one day and one year closer to my expiry date, haa, that's for sure.
Driving license, check.
Graduate high school, check.
University, quarterly-check.
What next?
I'm feeling What starts with O and rhymes with cold? already.

Merajuk
"Awak ingat semua orang faham ke, bila awak merajuk? Saya pun pernah remaja macam awak semua ni. Saya tahu. Biasanya perempuan, bila dia merajuk dengan boyfriend dia, dia terus off handphone dia... lepas tu tahan. Tahan. Tahan. Sampai setengah jam dia tahaaan diri. Lepas tu dia switch on balik handphone..
Tengok-tengok, TAKDE MISSED-CALL?! Si boyfriend tu taktahu pun dia merajuk. Lepas tu duk memuncung sepanjang hari."
"Daripada awak buat macam tu, it would be better if you just tell the person that you're angry, you're hurt. Merajuk ni memakan diri sendiri je. A useless stress."

"tapi aku bawak Tangan."
Our paper finished at 12.30 p.m that day. So, it wasn't necessary for me to bring along my telekung for zuhur prayers as i planned to get back to my room by 1.15 p.m. Half way walking, my friends suggested that we first conveniently stop by at our faculty to collect the RM200 1Malaysia Book Voucher we are entitled for. Okaaay, and i agreed.
And then we remembered, the faculty office is closed for their lunch break from 1-2 p.m. So we headed for the surau for zuhur while we wait for the clock to strike 2.
After wudhu, i took my bag and began searching for something in it. Upon seeing this, the friend asked me, "Eh, Dini bawak telekung ke?" She was asking this because i usually bring my own telekung every day if my bag isn't too heavy with books (our daily classes are normally from 9 a.m till 3 p.m). Of course telekungs are provided at the surau, but because too many people are using it, i don't feel like sharing their smell -,- euw. Lagipun bukannya patah pun tulang kalau bawak telekung sendiri yang beberapa gram tu dalam beg. Eh. Anywaaay, she was asking because it would be weird if i were to bring a telekung on that particular day, since we didn't plan to pray here in the first place.
"Oh tak. Tak bawak. Tapi aku bawak tangan," was my answer.
"Haaa?" She asked back.
"Tangan. Ni, tangan." I stated matter-of-factly. And then i took out the Tangan i was talking about..
Not mine. Photo credit to google.
"Oooh... Tangan ini.. hahaha," she laughed.
And i continued, "Aku panggil dia Tangan je walaupun nama sebenar dia stongan. Comel kan 'stongan'? Short-form daripada Stokin Tangan, haha."

Tak salah tak pakai telekung sewaktu solat, yang penting tutup aurat. Bukankah tujuan telekung tu ialah untuk menutup aurat anyway?
---
Sometimes people say, "Rasa tak best lah kalau solat tak pakai telekung." When i asked why, they answered, "Seluar ni agak ketat. Mesti la kena cover dengan kain telekung."
And sometimes people say, "Tak boleh tak pakai telekung, baju ni singkat. Aku rukuk/sujud nanti nampak punggung."
And sometimes people say, "Aku mesti nak pakai telekung sebab tudung ni jarang, nampak leher aku."
Okay. Now. Can you spot the weirdness in their statements?
They can wear tight pants, small clothes, and see-through scarf all around in public, but decided to COVER everything, cover their aurahs only during prayers... Eh. Our aurahs are supposed to be covered and protected all the time dear girls, not only during solat.
And it even breaks my heart to hear some ladies say, "Oh aku tak boleh solat lah. Takde telekung." There's nothing wrong about wearing a telekung in praying, but there's something wrong when you think a telekung is a wajib thing to be worn to pray. Takde telekung, tak boleh solat? Mentality yang salah please.
(baju kurung + tudung + socks = All the usual stuff we wear everyday) + stongan = Dah boleh solat dah.
:)
Oh, selain untuk menutup aurat, boleh jugak pakai telekung tu malam2 pastu pergi berkeliaran around residential college untuk takutkan orang. muahahahah.
